Yateley Railway Station

Yateley Railway Station is a railway station in the town of Yateley, Hampshire, England. It is on the London–Brighton railway line and is served by South Western Railway.

Yateley has been a major junction since trains were first introduced to the area in 1838; this was due to its location at one end of a long straight stretch on which trains could overtake each other easily.

There are two platforms at this station: Platform 1 (for trains towards London Victoria) and Platform 2 (for trains towards Portsmouth).

Yateley’s former name was “Hazelhead” after its parish church, but it became known as simply “Yates-Head” following a change in pronunciation during Victorian times that left some pronouncing it as YATESHEED instead of YATESHEAD!
