The Ewell Valley Railway is a narrow gauge railway in the Ewell Valley in Surrey. The line was built by volunteers from British Rail and opened on 11 April 2001, with passenger services starting on 18 July 2001.
The line runs from Watford Junction to Sandhurst via Ewell and Laleham. It’s not uncommon for some of its trains to be double-headed with steam trains on their way back down towards London when they have finished running up through the hills above this pretty little town!

The Epsom Racecourse is a horse racing course in Epsom, Surrey, England. It is the home of the Epsom Derby, one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious horse races.
The first race meeting was held on Monday 26 June 1805 on a site called Vigors’ Field by William Vigors and his friends James Gascoyne-Cecil and William Cavendish-Bentinck.
It has been possible to follow developments at an early stage: during 1740s it had become increasingly popular with aristocrats who wanted to enjoy themselves without socialising with their peers; after 1840s however more people turned up because they could now afford such leisure activities; then around 1860s came increased interest from middle classes who saw it as another way for them to spend money on entertainment (horse racing).

St John’s Church, Bishops Waltham, Cambridgeshire.
St John’s Church is a parish church in Bishops Waltham, Cambridgeshire. It is a Grade II* listed building.
It was originally built around 1500, but has been rebuilt and altered several times since then.
The current structure dates from 1610-12 by Jervis Langley and added to in 1723 by Thomas Archer, who also restored its tower (now topped with an octagonal spire).
You can find great places to visit just by going outside of your comfort zone.

Epsom Downs is a horse racing course in Epsom, Surrey. It’s home to the Epsom Derby, one of the most important horse races in the UK and it’s also host to an annual festival called “The Derby Festival”. As well as the races themselves, there are lots of other activities (from riding lessons to steeplechasing) that you can enjoy on your day out at Epsom Downs.
Hardwick Hall
Hardwick Hall is a historic house in the village of Hardwick, Cambridgeshire. It is a Grade I listed building and was built by Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth I between 1568 and 1570, who also built nearby Hardwick Hall House on his estate. The house was later owned by Thomas Pelham-Holles (later Duke of Newcastle). In 1746 it was bought by General Henry Hawley who had it remodelled by James Wyatt between 1755–56 for use as his country seat; he died there in 1758 before completing the project.
The hall has been converted into apartments but it retains some original features such as an impressive stone staircase and stained glass windows with coats of arms.
Church of St Mary’s, Ewell
The Church of St Mary’s is a beautiful building, and it’s also one of the best places to visit in Epsom. The church has a long history that dates back to the 12th century, when it was established as a Benedictine monastery by monks from Winchester Cathedral.
The current building was constructed between 1864 and 1866 by architect James Pollard (who also designed Lewes Town Hall). It has been designated as Grade II listed because of its architectural significance, which includes its “fine Norman archway leading into the nave; its richly-carved Victorian stained glass windows and turret stair with substantial clock tower at its apex; fine early 20th century fittings including oak panelling in some parts”.

The Guildford Castle Museum & Art Gallery is a great place to visit if you’re looking for something that’s educational and fun. It’s full of artifacts, paintings and furniture from the past 400 years or so, which means there’s plenty of information about history in this museum.

Chobham Common
Chobham Common is a public open space in the London Borough of Croydon, England. It is located to the south of Croydon town centre and to the east of Croydon Airport.
The common covers around 140 acres (57 ha), including its surrounding roads, footpaths and ponds. The area has been managed by Surrey County Council since 1982 when it was transferred from London County Council following boundary changes.

Bosham Hippodrome is a small, family-run theatre in Bosham, West Sussex. The theatre was built in 1835 and is the oldest surviving theatre in the country.
The building itself has been updated and renovated over time to meet modern standards but it still retains its original charm with its curved façade and balcony seating area. There are also two bars inside where you can enjoy some beers or wine with friends before or after your show!

Wotton House is a country house located in Westcott, Cambridgeshire, England. It was built in 1612 by Sir George Wotton and has been home to five generations of the same family since then. The house is a Grade I listed building.
The building itself has been described as “a rare example of Jacobean architecture,” and features several features including fluted columns along with high ceilings. The exterior also features leaded glass windows, which were imported from abroad.
Sidcot House near Royal Wootton Bassett.
If you’re looking for a relaxing holiday, try visiting Sidcot House near Royal Wootton Bassett. This beautiful country house was built in 1790 for the Earl of Gower and was once described by Nikolaus Pevsner as “one of Wiltshire’s most interesting houses.”
The interior has been restored to its original state, with many original features remaining intact including fireplaces and stonework. There is also an impressive collection of artworks on display throughout the house including works by artists such as Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571-1610) and Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669).
Sutton Park (Royal Hospital Road), Ashtead.
Sutton Park is a public park in the town of Ashtead, Surrey. It lies on the south side of the A3 road, just north of the town centre. The park has been awarded Green Flag status twice and was designated as one of England’s first family parks in 1997.
The park includes several areas for children to play including swings, climbing frames and sandpits. There are also two ponds with associated ducks and swans which provide some entertainment for visitors during summer months.

This is a beautiful historic building that has a lovely churchyard. It’s not walking distance, but it’s worth the trip if you have time to spare.
The church was built in 1833, and has been restored several times since then. The interior of St Mary’s is full of beautiful stained glass windows, including one depicting Jesus Christ holding a candle up to heaven while some angels look down on him below. If you’re looking for somewhere to get married or just have photos taken outside (it also makes great backdrops!), this is definitely worth visiting!
